About the event
Spend a happy day learning how to fill and cover a sponge cake, using jam and buttercream and sugar paste and finish with simple hand made flowers and foliage and decorative piping.
Book your place on this fun and informative sugarcraft class and learn the art of icing and decorating a delicious sponge cake.
This class, to be hosted at the Cake and Sugarcraft Centre in Hedge End, near Southampton, is ideal for beginners and will combine a detailed demonstration and a hands-on workshop, during which each participant will ice and decorate an 8 inch sponge cake.
Julie Hancock will teach you how to prepare a sponge cake for covering in sugarpaste and how to ensure a smooth coat. Â You will learn how to colour sugarpaste, how to mould with modelling paste and how to make simple flowers and add some piped detail to decorate your cake. Â Julie will share lots of tips and hints during the class and will of course answer all your questions.
Cake, materials and all equipment are included in the cost of the class and will be provided for you. Â All you need to bring is an apron.
Light refreshments will be served during the class. Â Please feel free to bring snacks and a packed lunch.
